The Archive of the Museum of the Slovak National Uprising is a specialised archive connected with the activities and functioning of the Museum of the Slovak National Uprising. It was established on 14 April 1980, when it took over the filing agenda and archival materials created by the activities of the Museum of the SNU and its legal predecessors.

Currently, it acquires, registers, manages, protects, professionally processes and makes available archival documents that originate from the activities of the Museum of the SNU as well as those that have been acquired through scientific research, donation, purchase or transfer. The Archive of the Museum of the SNU develops archival collections on the history of Slovak society between 1938 and 1945, with an emphasis on the documentation of the anti-fascist and national liberation struggle and the Slovak National Uprising as an important part of the European anti-fascist resistance in the years of the Second World War.

The activities of the archive are regulated by Act No. 395/2002 Coll. on Archives and Registers and on the amendment of certain acts and Decree of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic No. 628/2002 Coll., which implements certain provisions of the Act on Archives and Registers and on the amendment of certain acts.
