Care for the Museum of the Slovak National Uprising’s collections is provided by the conservation and restoration workplace. This workplace is technically and personally equipped for the professional treatment of objects of all material groups. Museum conservators and restorers take care of the collection objects, focusing on metal, wood, textile, paper, leather and fur and other materials. The task of the workplace is to ensure preventive protection of collection objects in the collection storages, constant care for the objects in the exhibition and also to conserve or restore newly acquired collection objects. Another important task of the conservator is to obtain information about the object, its origin, material composition, nature of damage, pollution or secondary modifications. The research of the object is essential for determining the most appropriate possible method of conservation, but it also helps to obtain new information about the object that is important for historians or curators. Emphasis is placed on preserving the aesthetic, historical and informational value of each collection object.
